Agatha All Along Trailer Amplifies WandaVision’s Mephisto Theories

Fresh from the fascinating antics of Deadpool & Wolverine, the MCU’s latest venture has just launched a new trailer, sparking waves of anticipation among fans. The freshly released promo for Agatha All Along captures the spotlight on Joe Locke’s enigmatic character, known only as “Teen.” Though theories buzz around the actor’s role, including speculations that he is portraying Billy Maximoff, the trailer reveals a peculiar twist—Locke’s character is unable to utter his own name.

The mystery deepens with the appearance of a bizarre, squiggly script over the Teen’s mouth as he tries to introduce himself to Agatha. This stylized “M” has piqued curiosity and sparked chatter on social media, suggesting that the curse preventing the Teen from speaking his name could have been placed by Mephisto.

Mephisto, Marvel’s version of The Devil, stands as one of the most formidable and shrewd villains in the Marvel Universe, though his adaptation into live-action has been fraught with challenges. During the airing of WandaVision, fans fervently speculated that Mephisto was the malevolent presence orchestrating events in Westview. This theory was debunked, revealing it was Agatha all along. Yet, the anticipation for Mephisto’s appearance in the MCU hasn’t waned.

“I keep hearing that. I have no idea,” Kathryn Hahn commented on the Mephisto rumors. “That was a big thing during WandaVision. But I have no idea. Who knows? I mean, like anything with Marvel, anything is probably possible. But I’ve never heard anything definitive about that at all.”

As for the Teen? Clues remain scarce. “[Teen is] not a fake code name; it’s what everyone calls him, which is a joke that develops during the show, but just becomes what everyone calls him, and he answers to it,” Locke explained to Total Film.

Fans are also speculating whether Elizabeth Olsen will make an appearance in Agatha All Along, especially if Locke’s character indeed turns out to be Wanda’s son. Olsen recently hinted at her return to the MCU, although she previously stated she wasn’t involved with the new Disney+ series. Moreover, a brief Scarlett Witch Easter egg was spotted in Deadpool & Wolverine.

In addition to Kathryn Hahn reclaiming her role as Agatha, the series will feature familiar faces from WandaVision including Emma Caulfield, Debra Jo Rupp, David Payton, David Lengel, Asif Ali, Amos Glick, Brian Brightman, and Kate Forbes. The show also introduces several new characters to the MCU played by Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Eric Andre, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasil, and Patti LuPone.

Agatha All Along premieres on September 19th.
