A large alligator was found on the runway at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida and was captured and moved to a nearby river. The reptile was seen near the landing gear of a KC-135 aerial refueling aircraft on Monday morning, prompting officials to call the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for help. The alligator was safely captured and released into the Hillsborough River. Wildlife officials explained that alligators are more likely to wander into new areas in April as they look for mates.
