Anti-Semitic sentiment on U.S. college campuses echoes Germany in 1930s and ’40s

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft expressed concern about campus protests nationwide in response to Israel’s campaign in Gaza, comparing them to the lead-up to the Holocaust. Kraft, a supporter of Columbia University, noted increasing signs of extreme hatred and urged good people to stand up against it. Reports of offensive rhetoric targeting Jewish students at Columbia have emerged during the protests, while investigations into alleged incidents have been opened by the U.S. Education Department. Despite his criticisms of the protests, Kraft praised law enforcement for maintaining order and called for accountability on campus. He also suspended financial support for Columbia over its handling of the protests. Arrests continued in protests at various colleges and universities across the country, with calls for resignations and threats to federal funding amid the ongoing unrest.
