APD officers involved in shooting with armed suspect resulting in suspect’s death

Austin Police Department responded to a shooting involving officers in northwest Austin. Multiple calls reported gunshots at an apartment on San Felipe Boulevard. The suspect was injured and later died at the hospital. During a briefing, Interim Chief Robin Henderson explained that initial calls were about loud noise, with later reports of a person carrying a gun. Officers found the suspect and asked them to surrender, but they did not comply, leading to shots being fired. The officers administered first aid, and SWAT was called as a precaution. The officers involved will be placed on administrative duty, and investigations are ongoing.
