Are ‘Tracker’ Stars Jensen Ackles and Melissa Roxburgh Leaving the Show?

Tracker had significant moments in its first season with the introduction of two characters set to play crucial roles in the anticipated second season. These characters are Colter Shaw’s (Justin Hartley) brother and sister, portrayed by Jensen Ackles and Melissa Roxburgh, respectively.

However, both Ackles and Roxburgh have committed to new TV shows, raising concerns about their availability for Tracker Season 2. Fans are understandably curious about what to expect regarding these characters and their involvement in the next season. Hartley shared insights into what fans can look forward to with these characters moving forward.

Tracker centers around Colter Shaw, a “tracker” who hires himself out to find people who have vanished. Despite the standalone adventures throughout the first season, Colter’s childhood and personal history were also explored, adding depth to his character.

In the episode aired on May 5, viewers were introduced to Colter’s younger sister, Dory, portrayed by Roxburgh. Dory is a college professor in possession of their father’s old journals and research papers. Her character brought tension as she urged Colter to move on from the past while clinging to it herself.

The following week, Colter’s older brother, Russell, played by Ackles, made an appearance. An ex-military contractor estranged from Colter, Russell was suspected by Colter of causing their father’s death. Russell denies this but acknowledges the possibility that someone else may have been responsible.

The introduction of these siblings suggested their continued relevance in Season 2. Despite their commitments to other projects, it appears that both actors will be returning to Tracker.

Showrunner Elwood Reid confirmed in a recent interview that both Ackles and Roxburgh would return. Reid noted, “We got him. He’s coming back. We’re having fun with that. It’s a great story,” referring to Ackles. He also mentioned Roxburgh’s return, stating, “We’ll unpeel some more stuff with his sister.”

For their new shows, both actors take on pivotal roles, possibly limiting their availability for recurring roles in Tracker.

Roxburgh will star in the NBC midseason drama The Hunting Party. This crime procedural series follows a small team of investigators tracking the country’s most dangerous serial killers, who have escaped from a top-secret prison. This show will premiere midseason.

Ackles is set to lead the Amazon Prime Video thriller Countdown, developed by One Chicago veteran Derek Haas. The 13-episode first season sees Ackles as LAPD officer Mark Meachum, who investigates a broad daylight murder alongside a special task force, uncovering a sinister plot.
