Autopsy confirms Colorado mom missing in 2020 was the victim of homicide

Suzanne Morphew, a missing Colorado woman whose body was found in September, died by homicide with drugs used as animal tranquilizers in her system. The autopsy report revealed she was under the influence of butorphanol, azaperone, and medetomidine. Her husband, Barry Morphew, was initially charged with murder and other crimes but the case was dismissed without prejudice in April 2022. Prosecutors alleged Suzanne was planning to divorce Barry because of an affair before her death. Barry has denied any involvement in his wife’s disappearance. The autopsy report’s findings raised questions about the use of animal tranquilizers in Colorado due to hunting and ranching in the state.
