Former President Barack Obama, known for his broad musical tastes, has unveiled his annual summer playlist. This tradition, which began in 2015 while he was still in office, includes his favorite songs of the year and a list of books he’s been reading.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Obama highlighted the diverse nature of his playlist. “With summer winding down, I wanted to share some songs that I’ve been listening to lately – and it wouldn’t be my playlist if it didn’t include an eclectic mix. I hope you find something new to listen to!”

In keeping with the ongoing ‘brat summer’ theme popularized by Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democratic Presidential nominee, Obama included Charli XCX’s high-energy ‘360’ on his list. The ‘brat summer’ vibe has been a notable trend in various campaigns.

Obama credited his daughters, Sasha and Malia, for helping him stay updated with current music trends. In a conversation with Carter Gregory, he mentioned, “I get referrals from my daughters — which keeps me not stuck in the ’80s.”

The playlist features a mix of old and new songs. Among the highlighted artists are country newcomer Shaboozey with “A Bar Song (Tipsy)”, pop star Billie Eilish with “Chihiro”, and hip-hop artist Tommy Richman with “Million Dollar Baby”.

Additionally, the playlist includes timeless classics like Blackstreet’s ‘No Diggity’, Digable Planets’ ‘Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)’, the Supremes’ ‘Where Did Our Love Go’, and the Rolling Stones’ ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.’
