Barbie Recreates Wedding Scene from ‘Sex and the City’ Movie

That wedding scene—or rather, the almost wedding scene—in the *Sex and the City* movie remains just as heart-wrenching 16 years after its release.

Thankfully, TikToker Barbie Boi on the account my_miniature_things has created a delightful recreation using Barbie dolls and the original audio from the film. The miniature version is both adorable and bizarre, as the doll playing Big has an unwavering smile despite the emotional turmoil. You can see the video embedded below.

The attention to detail in this recreation is exemplary. Sarah Jessica Parker’s character Carrie is depicted wearing a headpiece featuring a dark feather, and Kim Cattrall’s Samantha holds red roses. Cynthia Nixon’s Miranda and Kristin Davis’ Charlotte also bear striking resemblances to their real-life counterparts.

The original scene where Mr. Big, whose real name was revealed at the end of the HBO *Sex and the City* series in 2006, backs out of his wedding to Carrie at the last moment, remains famously memorable. Given the scene’s setting at the iconic New York Public Library, librarians often point it out to curious visitors.

The Vivienne Westwood gown that Parker’s character wore in the film became so iconic that it even appeared in the sequel series *And Just Like That* last year. In the plot, Carrie needed a dress suitable for the Met Gala after her initial choice was marred by an ill seamstress. The dress, associated with the painful memory of Big eventually suffering a fatal heart attack, was found in her closet and revived for the sequel.

*And Just Like That* costume designers Molly Rogers and Danny Santiago explained in June 2023 that the dress remained in great shape. They got in touch with Vivienne Westwood early in the process to have the garment cleaned and adjusted for Parker.

However, preserving the headpiece was a different story. Rogers recalled, “When we first got it back for the movie, they said the feather was about 120 years old, originating from a Victorian piece. Despite its fragility, it endured all the filming and has now lasted this many years.”
