Ben Affleck Continues Driving Lessons with Instructor Days After Driving Garner

Fin Affleck is keen on obtaining their driver’s license before the new school year starts. The middle child of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner was recently seen taking driving lessons in California on August 28.

A few days later, Fin was spotted driving Jennifer around Brentwood, near their home.

During this outing, Jennifer sat in the passenger seat while her teenage child drove a white Toyota pickup truck. Photos capture the 15-year-old’s intense focus on the road, attentiveness to their mother’s instructions, and cautious driving, consistently checking the rearview mirror and firmly gripping the wheel.

Prior to this session, Jennifer and Fin were seen at the California Department of Motor Vehicles, possibly to help Fin obtain a learner’s permit. In California, teens can apply for a learner’s permit at 15 1/2 years old, provided they complete a state-approved driver’s education course, and be accompanied by a knowledgeable adult. At 16, they can apply for a provisional license, subject to restrictions.

In April 2024, during a memorial service for Jennifer Garner’s father, Fin publicly introduced themselves for the first time. They now go by the name Fin and use they/them pronouns. Fin’s parents have supported them wholeheartedly in embracing their identity.

Jennifer Garner has always seen herself as a devoted mother. In a 2023 interview with Allure, she shared, “It could have gone either way. I could have adopted or fostered, but there was no question that I would be a mother. I was the typical kid who carried a doll around everywhere and started a babysitting business with my friend Carrie in seventh or eighth grade.”

Garner balances her roles as a mom and an actress. She mentioned, “They don’t mind watching their dad’s movies, but they prefer to see me as their mom (and not as an actress). They don’t want to see me upset and women cry more in this profession,” adding that her children “don’t want to see me in anything romantic.”

Ben Affleck is also focusing on family amidst his divorce from Jennifer Lopez, especially as their daughter Violet prepares for her first year of college. According to sources close to Affleck, he “has been very focused on getting Violet ready for move-in,” reported by PEOPLE. “It’s a huge deal for the whole family, and they’ve all been so excited the last few weeks,” the source added.

The Garner-Affleck family traveled to New Haven, Connecticut, to help Violet settle in the city. Amidst the family trip, Jennifer Lopez, who shares a close bond with Affleck’s eldest daughter, was notably absent. The Affleck family, appearing relaxed and enjoying their time, had an outdoor dinner at the South Bay restaurant before taking a leisurely walk, with Ben briefly seen without his wedding ring.
