Biden administration completes implementation of power plant environmental regulations

The Biden administration finalized rules on Thursday to reduce pollution from power plants. The rules will compel coal and new natural gas plants to cut or capture 90% of their climate pollution by 2032, reducing emissions by 75%. The EPA also announced rules for mercury, toxic wastewater, and coal ash. These actions show Biden’s commitment to climate change. The EPA rules are less restrictive than the Obama-era Clean Power Plan and offer various options for power generators to meet requirements. The rules aim to reduce pollution and protect public health, signaling a shift in the power industry’s practices.
