Biden announces increased funding for solar energy projects and the establishment of the American Climate Corps on Earth Day.

President Joe Biden traveled to Triangle, Virginia to mark Earth Day, unveiling $7 billion in grant funding for solar power and announcing steps to stand up his administration’s American Climate Corps. The Biden administration also made conservation announcements, including barring oil drilling on half of the national petroleum reserve in Alaska. Biden emphasized the climate crisis as an existential threat and highlighted his clean energy record. The Solar for All program will benefit nearly one million households in low-income communities. Additionally, new actions on the federal Climate Corps were announced to train young Americans for clean energy jobs. Biden emphasized the importance of service programs like the Climate Corps.
