Brad Pitt Blasts Angelina Jolie’s Request to Share His Messages in Winery Lawsuit

Brad Pitt has submitted a legal request aiming to deny what he describes as an “intrusive” motion filed by his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, amid their ongoing winery lawsuit.

The ex-couple, who divorced in 2019, have been locked in a legal battle over Jolie’s shares of their jointly purchased winery since 2022. This dispute began when Jolie “secretly” sold her part of the French Château Miraval to a Russian oligarch.

In the latest development, Pitt has called on a judge to reject a motion from Jolie’s legal team, which requested him to release third-party communications regarding the infamous 2016 plane incident involving the couple.

Pitt’s lawyers criticized Jolie’s request, calling it “wide-ranging and intrusive” and likening it to a “sensationalist fishing expedition.” They argued that Pitt had already “voluntarily offered to produce documents sufficient to show everything that occurred on the flight that precipitated the ex-couple’s divorce.” This event is the one Jolie claims made Pitt’s NDA request offensive in this context.

“Jolie, however, rejected Pitt’s compromise and moved to compel his communications with third parties — including his most trusted advisors — about sensitive issues such as the therapy he voluntarily undertook after the flight incident, alleged drug and alcohol testing, and his supposed overuse or abuse of alcohol,” his lawyers added.

Pitt’s legal team insisted that his “private, third-party communications” about the jet ride were irrelevant to the dispute over the French winery. They believe Jolie seeks to use them to re-litigate their divorce case.

The Independent has reached out to Jolie’s legal representative for comment on the matter.

Following Pitt’s 2022 lawsuit alleging Jolie sold her shares of the French property without his consent, Jolie countersued the Fight Club star. In her countersuit, Jolie revealed new details of purported abusive behavior by Pitt during the 2016 private jet ride that eventually led to their divorce.

The FBI documents disclosed that Pitt allegedly verbally and physically abused one of their children during the incident. Pitt has consistently denied all allegations of verbal and physical abuse.

The former couple shares six children: Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 16-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.

Earlier in the year, a Los Angeles judge ordered Jolie to submit eight years’ worth of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs). This ruling followed a motion from Jolie’s team seeking to release communications purportedly proving that Pitt wouldn’t let her sell her share of the winery to him unless she agreed to an “expansive” NDA.

Pitt’s lawyers subsequently asked the judge to compel Jolie to submit the NDAs she had signed in the past. They contended that these NDAs were “highly relevant” to Jolie’s reasons for allegedly refusing to adhere to her contractual obligations to Pitt when she sold her winery shares.

Jolie’s attorney, Paul Murphy, responded by saying they are “more than happy to turn [the NDAs] over.” Murphy added that the ruling “opens the door to discovery on all issues related to Pitt’s abuse” and welcomed the transparency in all parties’ discovery responses.
