Brunson: New ‘Abbott’ Season Promises a ‘Return to Fun’

Quinta Brunson made an appearance at the ESPYs this month as the event highlighted top athletes from all sports. Although Brunson isn’t recognized for her athletic skills, she is a prominent figure under the Disney umbrella. After securing a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 2023, she is poised to conclude 2024 with another season of her acclaimed comedy series. On the red carpet, Entertainment Tonight inquired about the next set of episodes from the ABC hit show.

“What’s one word you’d use to describe the next season of Abbott [Elementary], now that you guys started filming?” the reporter asked.

“Oh, my God! [It’s] a return to form. [It’s] a return to fun and excellence. I’m so excited,” Brunson answered.

Throughout the show’s run, Brunson and her team have cast several notable stars, including Vince Staples, Zack Fox, and Gritty, the official mascot for the Philadelphia Flyers. Nonetheless, there is one Philadelphia sports legend Brunson hopes to bring on the show in the future.

“Allen Iverson. I’ve never met him. I’d like to meet him. If I don’t meet him, it’s ok. This is still a wonderful night. Like, I love the ESPYs, but if I can’t meet Allen Iverson…I mean, it’d be pretty tight,” she expressed when asked whom she would most like to meet at the award show.

“I was going to say [that] I think you have a long line of people who want to be on Abbott [Elementary], so this is the place to recruit him,” the reporter suggested.

“Yes! He’s been on Abbott in cardboard form, but I just want to meet him. I just love him,” Brunson continued.
