If the name DJ Camper or simply Camper doesn’t ring any bells, his extensive body of work likely will. Throughout the past decade, Camper has made significant contributions to numerous high-profile tracks for legendary artists. His impressive résumé includes Jay-Z’s “Somewhere In America,” Nicki Minaj’s “Favorite,” Big Sean’s “Jump Out The Window,” and Coco Jones’s “ICU.” Notably, Camper also collaborated with H.E.R. to release two critically acclaimed projects, H.E.R Volume I and H.E.R Volume II. After years spent behind the scenes enhancing the work of other A-list talents, Camper is now stepping into the spotlight with his own music.

On Friday, July 12, Camper unveiled his latest summer single, “War,” featuring R&B stars Jeremih and Ari Lennox. The song was released alongside an official music video. The smooth, rhythmic production showcases Camper’s knack for crafting passionate sounds. In “War,” Jeremih and Ari Lennox explore the theme of fighting for love, emphasizing their willingness to do anything for their significant others.

The music video elevates the emotional depth of the track. It portrays Camper making a heartfelt effort to win back his love interest, played by Chelsie Denise, after a disagreement. He arrives with flowers, chocolate, and other romantic gestures. Despite her friends’ disapproval, Denise’s character ultimately decides to give Camper another chance, making for an emotionally satisfying conclusion.

“War” follows “I Need It,” a collaboration with Tank and Syd. Both tracks are part of Camper’s upcoming album, Campilation. With these two singles out, anticipation is high for the full project.

If you’re a fan of smooth R&B that pulls at the heartstrings, “War” featuring Jeremih and Ari Lennox is a must-listen. The combination of Camper’s production skills and the vocal talents of Jeremih and Lennox provides a compelling preview of what’s to come on Campilation.
