“My father was an individual with dreams and aspirations,” Matthew Weathers shared. “He knew what he wanted at a very young age. He often told me that if he had some money as a young man, he would go to the movies.”

Reflecting on his father’s career, Matthew added, “Not a lot of people have the opportunity to do what he did. He was proud of what he created, and so am I. It’s hard to imagine that he’s not here.”

Echoing his brother’s sentiments, Jason Weathers also expressed his pride in their father. “I wish he could be here to experience this,” he said. “He was looking forward to this moment — over 50 years in Hollywood, and now to be immortalized with a star is simply wonderful.”

Carl Weathers passed away in February at the age of 76.
