Carli Lloyd recently came to the defense of her FOX Sports broadcasting colleague, Alexi Lalas, amid some harsh criticism from a competing soccer media group.

Men in Blazers, known for their soccer content and a show on NBC/Peacock, posted a contentious remark on X this past Sunday, targeting Lalas. Lalas, a former U.S. men’s soccer player, currently works as a soccer analyst for FOX.

“Warning: You are down to your last 15 minutes of this Summer of Soccer. Brace yourself. Lalas will not be on your television tomorrow. Don’t cry because it happened, smile because it’s over,” read the post.

The jab at Lalas was quite evident, leading some to speculate that it was aimed at him due to his willingness to express his conservative political views.

Carli Lloyd, feeling the attack on Lalas was unwarranted, responded swiftly.

“This is pretty low and classless. No need for it. I enjoyed sitting next to @AlexiLalas all summer long and looking forward to it again!” Lloyd wrote on X in defense of her colleague.

Like Lalas, Lloyd is a former member of the U.S. national soccer team and also serves as an analyst for FOX.

This summer, FOX was the broadcaster for both the Copa America and European Championship, both of which concluded on Sunday. This is the context Men in Blazers’ post was referring to.
