July 13 (UPI) — The son of India’s wealthiest man tied the knot with his pharmaceutical heiress fiancé in a grand ceremony attended by a galaxy of stars.

Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant exchanged vows at the expansive Jio World Convention, owned by the Ambani family’s enterprises. The event, held in Mumbai’s bustling business district, led to police barricading surrounding streets to manage the celebration.

Anant Ambani is the son of Mukesh Ambani, ranked as the ninth richest global and the wealthiest man in Asia, according to Forbes’s 2024 list.

The festivities saw a remarkable guest list, including Kim Kardashian, actor John Cena, musician Nick Jonas, and his wife, Priyanka Chopra. Former British Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Boris Johnson were also spotted on the red carpet, adding to the international charm of the guest list.

The wedding celebrations commenced in March and extended with grandeur till the massive Friday ceremony. Throughout these months, celebrities like Rihanna and Justin Bieber graced various events for the couple’s pre-wedding festivity marathon.

The wedding celebrations are set to continue through Saturday, culminating in a grand reception on Sunday.

Estimates place the total cost of the wedding at over $100 million, highlighting the sheer luxury and extravagance of the events.

Anant Ambani, 29, holds a position on the board of directors of the family’s conglomerate, Reliance Industries Limited. The multi-billion-dollar company, chaired by his father Mukesh Ambani, was founded in 1958 by his grandfather. It has since diversified into textiles, technology, and oil industries.

Radhika Merchant, 29, serves as a director on the board of Encore Healthcare, where her father, Viren Merchant, is the CEO, further strengthening the business alliance between two prominent billion-dollar families.
