Charges filed against suspect in the killing of Chicago Police Officer Luis Huesca – NBC Chicago

A suspect, Xavier L. Tate Jr., has been charged with first-degree murder in the killing of officer Luis Huesca. Huesca was found shot multiple times near his home in Gage Park early Sunday morning and later died from his injuries. Tate allegedly used a 40-caliber handgun in the fatal shooting. Huesca, a 6-year veteran of the force, was in uniform and heading home when he was attacked. His stolen Toyota SUV was later recovered. Tate had yet to be taken into custody as of Friday night.
