Chilling Drama on the Real-Life Abduction of a British Model

A dramatisation of a true story aired at 9pm on BBC Three, recounting a harrowing experience from 2017, when 20-year-old British model Chloe Ayling was kidnapped in Milan en route to a photoshoot. After being drugged and tied up, she found herself in the boot of a car, eventually ending up in a remote farmhouse. Her captor, Lukasz Herba, demanded €300,000 for her release and menacingly threatened to sell her into sex slavery. This series, produced with Ayling’s blessing, features Nadia Parkes in the lead role.

At 8pm on BBC One, another heartwarming episode of The Repair Shop aired. This instalment featured the restoration of objects rich in personal value and history, including a handmade guitar, an official taxi badge earned by conquering the arduous knowledge test of London routes, and a limited edition golden Etch A Sketch.

Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy hosted a new culinary competition, The Big Brunch, at 8.10pm on U&W. This show centers around the beloved millennial meal, brunch. Ten of the nicest chefs from the US showcased their culinary prowess, competing for a tempting prize of $300,000. The competition highlighted touching personal stories and served up plenty of delicious-looking dishes.

Also at 9pm on BBC One, Celebrity Race Across the World premiered, introducing a travel challenge show where celebrities are pushed out of their comfort zones. Among the teams journeying through Brazil towards the Andes were Kelly Brook and her husband Jeremy, Kola Bokinni and his cousin Mary Ellen, Scott Mills and his husband Sam, and Jeff Brazier with his keen-eyed son Freddy.

Over on ITV1 at the same time, Irvine Welsh’s Crime continued its dark and intense storyline. Dougray Scott returned as the perpetually troubled Ray Lennox, who is now forced to protect his nemesis Richie Gulliver, much to his discontent. This Scottish thriller relishes in its exaggerated bleakness.

The conclusion of Mr Bigstuff aired at 9pm on Sky Max, starring the ever-entertaining Danny Dyer. The show wrapped up with Lee (Dyer) on the run, while Glen and Kirsty found themselves in a bind after their bank account was mysteriously emptied. As their wedding plans hung in the balance, Glen realized he needed to entangle himself in his brother’s shady dealings. However, not everything was as it appeared.

Film Choice highlighted a poignant documentary called “Daughters,” directed by Natalie Rae and Angela Patton and available on Netflix. The film follows Patton’s Date With Dad program in the US, which enables incarcerated fathers to attend a dance with their daughters in prison. The documentary chronicles the preparation for an event in Washington DC, focusing on young girls Aubrey, Santana, Ja’Ana, and Raziah, and their fathers, who must complete a rigorous 10-week course to qualify to attend. While the program shows promising results, with 95% of the participating men not reoffending, the impact on the daughters varies. The film poignantly demonstrates how a single day can have a profound effect on lives.
