Two lanes of eastbound Interstate 80 at Green Valley Road in Solano County reopened after a standoff between California Highway Patrol deputies and a suspect. The suspect’s vehicle stopped on the freeway near Fairfield, and the standoff ended with the suspect injuring himself with a gunshot wound. Traffic was held on both sides of I-80 as officers surrounded the vehicle. The pursuit began in Rohnert Park and involved spike strips being deployed. The incident caused hours of traffic delays, leaving a group of stranded students from Rocklin Unified School District on their way back from a field trip to Six Flags Discover Kingdom.
