CMPD: Four Officers Killed, Four Injured in Fatal Shooting During Warrant Service in East Charlotte

Eight law enforcement officers were shot in east Charlotte, with three U.S. Marshals and a CMPD officer killed. The ambush occurred while serving a warrant, resulting in four injured officers. The fallen officers were identified as seasoned professionals who had left behind families. The suspect, Terry Clark Hughes Jr., was shot and killed by law enforcement after exchanging gunfire. The area was locked down as other occupants in the house were questioned. Governor Roy Cooper and Mayor Vi Lyles offered condolences, while representatives and officials expressed prayers and support for the injured officers and their families.
