Columbia campus protester issues apology for controversial ‘kill Zionists’ remarks

A leader of students protesting the war in Gaza at Columbia University apologized for saying “Zionists don’t deserve to live”. Khymani James, 20, stated he misspoke in the heat of the moment. The White House condemned his remarks. Protests spread to other US campuses. Mr. James made the comments on Instagram in January and also stated, “Be grateful that I’m not just going out and murdering Zionists.” He later apologized, affirming the sanctity of all life. The University declined to comment on disciplinary measures. President Biden condemned the antisemitism in campus protests. US universities are being urged to divest from companies supporting Israel’s war in Gaza.
