Columbia student protesters stage sit-in at Hamilton Hall; UT Austin demonstrators arrested

Student protesters at Columbia University took over a building near the South Lawn, escalating tensions at the Ivy League institution. Earlier, the university had begun suspending students who refused to leave a pro-Palestinian encampment on campus. According to a statement posted on Instagram, the protesters plan to stay in Hamilton Hall until Columbia cuts financial ties with Israel. A video posted by the students showed them entering the building with barricades. The university has not yet commented on the situation.
