‘Control’ and ‘Alan Wake’ Games to Be Adapted by Annapurna, Remedy Deal

Annapurna has partnered with game developer Remedy Entertainment to transition the popular video game franchises Control and Alan Wake into films, TV series, and various other projects.

Additionally, Annapurna will collaborate with Remedy as a co-production and co-finance partner for the adaptation of the highly anticipated game Control 2. Remedy and Epic Games Publishing have also recently unveiled Alan Wake 2.

This announcement coincides with the upcoming premiere of Annapurna’s latest live-action feature, Nightbitch, set to debut at the Toronto Film Festival. Annapurna’s recent projects include the Oscar-nominated animated film Nimona and the Prime Video series Dead Ringers.

The partnership between Remedy and Annapurna comes on the heels of former Epic Games executive Hector Sanchez rejoining Annapurna as president of interactive and new media. Sanchez will work alongside CEO Megan Ellison to develop intellectual property across multiple platforms. Paul Doyle has also joined Annapurna as head of strategy. At Epic Games, Sanchez was in charge of the publishing team and the Unreal engine games business, while Doyle led the corporate strategy team.

“This deal with Remedy isn’t just about adapting great games — it’s about breaking new ground in how companies can collaborate. By backing Remedy’s move toward self-publishing, we’re putting our faith in their vision,” Sanchez mentioned in a statement regarding the partnership with Remedy.

Annapurna founder Megan Ellison stated that Hollywood storytelling is evolving towards new platforms. “Today people fall in love with characters and universes, not formats, and we’re excited to leverage Remedy’s beloved, immersive narratives in these new mediums,” she explained.

Founded in 2011, Annapurna creates content across film, TV, games, and other media. Remedy, based in Finland, is known for its franchises including Control, Alan Wake, and Max Payne.
