Dandadan Announces First Additions to English Voice Cast

The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Dandadan will premiere later this fall, and the excitement is building with the announcement of the first additions to the English dub voice cast. Originally created by Yukinobu Tatsu, the Dandadan manga has been a hit on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ app since its debut in 2021. The forthcoming anime adaptation has only increased its popularity, even though its premiere is still a few months away.

To ramp up the anticipation, Dandadan will host another world premiere this August during Anime NYC. In an exciting announcement, it was revealed that Abby Trott will voice Momo Ayase, and A.J. Beckles will lend his voice to Okarun (Ken Takakura) in the English dub. As the premiere date approaches, fans can expect more voice cast members to be revealed.

Dandadan is confirmed to release in full this October, although an exact release date has not been provided. Fans can look forward to streaming the new episodes on Crunchyroll, Netflix, Hulu, ADN, and Muse, alongside their Japanese release. Directed by Fuga Yamashiro at Science SARU, the studio behind Scott Pilgrim Takes Off for Netflix, the anime promises high-quality production values. Hiroshi Seko is supervising and writing the scripts, with Kensuke Ushio composing the music. Naoyuki Onda is in charge of character design, while Yoshimichi Kameda focuses on designing the aliens and monsters.

Before its streaming debut, the first three episodes of Dandadan will have a theatrical world premiere thanks to GKIDS. Titled DAN DA DAN: FIRST ENCOUNTER, this event will hit theaters across North America on September 13th. However, tickets for this special screening are not yet available.

The story of Dandadan introduces Momo Ayase, a high school girl from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, an avid occult enthusiast. Their adventure begins when Momo rescues Okarun from bullying, leading to an argument about the existence of ghosts and aliens. To settle their debate, Momo visits an abandoned hospital known for UFO sightings, while Okarun explores a supposedly haunted tunnel. In these eerie locations, they encounter unexplainable paranormal phenomena. Amidst the chaos, Momo discovers her hidden powers, and Okarun gains a curse that enables him to confront supernatural forces. Thus begins their journey of love and an epic occult battle.
