David Corenswet Surprises Olympian Stephen Nedoroscik in New Video

Olympic pommel horse champion Stephen Nederoscik swiftly became a social media sensation during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. His ritual of removing his eyeglasses before performing drew comparisons to the iconic transformation of DC’s Clark Kent into Superman. In a delightful turn of events, the next onscreen Superman, David Corenswet, has joined in on the fun.

During a recent episode of Gold Meets Golden, Corenswet sent his congratulations to Nederoscik for his outstanding performance at the Olympics. He playfully remarked that they are both champions of “truth, justice,” and more. Corenswet is set to make his debut as Superman in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie, scheduled for release in the summer of 2025.

“Good afternoon, this is a special message for Stephen Nederoscik,” Corenswet said in his video message. “From one Clark Kent to another, thanks for bringing home a medal for the United States, and for continuing to fight for truth, justice, and the core strength of fifty normal men. Thanks for being exceptional, man. Well done.”

The new Superman film is set to explore Superman’s journey as he reconciles his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing in Smallville, Kansas. Superman, portrayed by Corenswet, symbolizes truth, justice, and a better tomorrow, guided by human kindness in a world that often views kindness as outdated.

The movie boasts an impressive cast, including Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, and many others. Each actor brings their unique skills to the table, promising a fresh take on these beloved characters.

The movie is just one part of a larger vision for the DC Universe. The first chapter of the DC Universe slate includes Superman in 2025 and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow in 2026, along with undated films like The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thing, and The Authority. On the television front, fans can look forward to the animated series Creature Commandos, the sophomore season of Peacemaker, as well as future shows like Waller, Booster Gold, Lanterns, and Paradise Lost.

There are also rumors of an animated Jurassic League movie and a live-action Teen Titans movie, though these have not been officially confirmed by DC Studios. James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios, emphasized that while there are lessons from Marvel, the DC Universe will carve its unique path.

“A lot of people think it’s going to be Marvel 2.0, and definitely I learned a lot of stuff at Marvel. I think that we have a lot of differences,” Gunn explained in January 2023. “We are telling a big, huge, central story that is like Marvel, except for, I think that we’re a lot more planned out than Marvel from the beginning because we’ve gotten a group of writers together to work that story out completely.

But we’re also creating a universe that is like Star Wars, where there’s different times, different places, different things, or Game of Thrones, where characters are a little bit more morally complex.”

The highly anticipated Superman film will exclusively hit theaters on July 11, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the evolving DC Universe. Fans of both the superhero world and the Olympic games can appreciate the inspiring moment where fiction and reality intertwined, celebrating true heroism and incredible athletic achievement.
