Defense requested to respond to prosecution on potential repeat trial two weeks ago

Lawyer Renato Stabile has requested an extension of two weeks from Judge Kevin Castel to respond to the Prosecutor’s Office’s denial of the formal request for a retrial of former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández (JOH). Hernández was found guilty of all charges against him.

In a letter to Judge Castel, Stabile requested that the defense be given until April 26, 2024 to respond to the government’s opposition to the defendant’s Rule 33 motion. The government submitted a 54-page response to the defendant’s 12-page motion, which is why an extension of two weeks was requested.

Stabile expressed gratitude to the Court for its ongoing consideration.
