Delay of crucial Ukraine aid attributed to waffling from Tucker Carlson and Trump, McConnell claims

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell celebrated the upcoming passage of $60 billion in U.S. aid to Ukraine, although he expressed disappointment in the delays caused by former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson and former President Donald Trump. McConnell has been a strong supporter of Ukraine aid and fought against conservative voices opposing it. He believes the Republican Party is returning to its roots of defending democracy globally. Despite his plans to step back from leadership, McConnell remains committed to regaining a Republican Senate majority. The package’s struggles in the House were due to disagreements over spending money abroad instead of on domestic issues like border security. President Joe Biden is expected to sign the bill into law soon.
