Democrat Tim Kennedy secures victory in New York special election to succeed former Rep. Brian Higgins

Democratic candidate Tim Kennedy won the New York special election to replace former Rep. Brian Higgins. Kennedy defeated Republican Gary Dickson and will serve out the remainder of Higgins’ term in the House of Representatives. Higgins resigned in February, expressing dissatisfaction with Congress. McMurray faces a lawsuit from Kennedy over allegedly invalid signatures. Kennedy is also running for a full term as New York’s 26th District representative.
