Democrats optimistic that rescheduling marijuana will boost their chances in November

Half a century after high school students in Marin County, California, started using “4:20” as code for smoking marijuana, political advisers to President Joe Biden, who does not drink alcohol, began showing that he was aware of marijuana slang. Last year, the Department of Health and Human Services announced at 4:20 p.m. that they were working on rescheduling the drug. This year, both President Biden and Vice President Harris tweeted their support for reducing criminal penalties for marijuana users at 4:20 p.m. on April 20th. This demonstrates a shift in attitudes towards marijuana among political leaders.
