Deputy from Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department shot in the back in West Covina area, immediately taken to hospital

A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy was shot in the back while sitting on his motorcycle in West Covina. Several persons of interest were initially detained but later released. Deputy Samuel Aispuro, 43, was shot at an intersection and was able to call for help before being rushed to the hospital. He was wearing body armor that likely saved his life and is in stable condition. The suspect fled in a white sedan with tinted windows. Officials are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect. Sheriff Robert Luna emphasized the importance of getting the shooter off the streets.
