Senator Nicole Mitchell, representing DFL-Woodbury, was arrested in Detroit Lakes on suspicion of first-degree burglary. The arrest took place after a homeowner on Granger Road reported a burglar inside their home early Monday morning. Mitchell, 49, was found and arrested by officers on the scene. She is currently serving her first term in the Senate and holds a position on the Senate State and Local Government and Veterans Committee. Mitchell’s arrest was confirmed by a local TV station in North Dakota, and the Senate DFL Caucus declined to comment on the situation. Mitchell’s late father’s widow resides in the home where the incident occurred. The Legislature is on a recess until Wednesday.
