Director confirms ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ will not be the third installment of Marvel’s antihero series

This year marks a break from the usual influx of superhero movies, with no DC films on the schedule and only one Marvel movie to look forward to – ‘Deadpool 3’. This installment signifies a significant shift for the studio and heralds the integration of mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Directed by Shawn Levy, the upcoming film, previously known as ‘Deadpool 3’, is now titled ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’. It promises a crossover of the two iconic antiheroes across the multiverse. However, Levy clarifies that this is not intended to be the third installment in the Deadpool franchise, but rather a unique two-handed adventure with a different tone.

Levy expressed his excitement about working with two of the biggest movie stars in their most iconic roles. He emphasized that this project is not a mere continuation of the previous Deadpool movies but offers a twisted and fun take on the characters.

Despite the transition to Disney and the MCU, Deadpool remains unchanged in his irreverent and humorous spirit. While there is only one superhero movie to look forward to this year, fans can anticipate a unique and entertaining experience with ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’.
