Disgruntled Staff Furious Over ‘The View’s’ New $10M Set

The View is on the move for its upcoming Season 28, with a lavish new set. However, not everyone at ABC is pleased about this development. The reason may surprise you.

ABC has spent around $10 million to prepare the new set in Manhattan for its September debut. A source from The View’s production team revealed to The U.S. Sun that the costly new studio downtown is stirring frustration among the network’s staff.

“They’re currently relocating all the cast and crew’s personal items from the old ABC studios uptown to the new studios downtown,” the insider said. “People are upset about the move—150 staff members were recently fired, yet The View is spending $10 million on a brand new set.”

The source claimed the show’s producers are trying to hide the true extent of the expenses. “They’re not reusing anything from the previous studio. Everything is new, down to the mugs,” the insider affirmed.

“They’re not publicly admitting that it’s a brand-new set to avoid upsetting those who have been let go,” the source explained. “But it’s clear nothing is being bubble-wrapped and transported. It’s all new. The table, the chairs, the background—they were all designed from scratch.”

The new set is indeed a significant investment. A recent preview for Season 28 showcased Sara Haines introducing viewers to what she described as the “hottest new studio” to complement the show’s hot topics.

Meanwhile, the transition isn’t smooth for everyone, especially among ABC’s on-air personalities. Rumors of disputes among Good Morning America anchors over dressing rooms have also surfaced. Similarly, The View’s Whoopi Goldberg is unhappy with her new circumstances.

Whoopi Goldberg is reportedly dissatisfied with her new dressing room. “It’s much smaller, and she doesn’t have her own bathroom,” an insider disclosed. Another source added that Whoopi missed the more luxurious dressing room she had at the old studio.

“At the old studio, Whoopi had the largest dressing room with an ensuite bathroom, including a shower,” the second source detailed. She was the only person on The View besides Joy Behar who had her own bathroom.

“She even had a large table in her room for morning meetings, and all the ladies had to go to Whoopi’s dressing room in the morning,” the insider pointed out.

However, Whoopi Goldberg isn’t planning to make do with her new less-spacious dressing room. Reportedly, she plans to relocate her production office, currently near the old studio, to a location next to the new studio.

In doing so, Whoopi intends to use her own dressing room at her production studio, avoiding the accommodations provided by ABC.

The View returns for Season 28 on Tuesday, September 3 at 11 a.m. EST.
