Dr. Dharmesh Patel, an Indian-American radiologist, was arrested after allegedly driving his car off a cliff with his family inside in January 2023. His wife claimed he was depressed and needed a psychological evaluation. Doctors revealed that Patel had a mental breakdown during the crash, believing his children were being trafficked for sex. An analysis by psychologist Dr. Mark Patterson showed that Patel was suffering from a mental illness. Patel’s medical license was suspended, and he is seeking mental health diversion. Prosecutors argue he has Schizoaffective Disorder. If he complies with the treatment plan, charges may be dropped.
