A former NSA employee who sold classified information to who he believed to be a Russian official received a 22-year prison sentence. The judge called the sentence “mercy,” attributing the crime to a desire to betray and sell national security secrets. Defense argued for a lighter sentence due to Dalke’s traumatic past and mental health conditions. Dalke claimed he was not motivated by ideology or money, but possibly by the thrill.
