Exclusive Sneak Peek: Whitney Way Thore Visits Fertility Clinic

Whitney Way Thore is proactively addressing her reproductive health concerns. In an exclusive sneak peek of Tuesday’s episode of My Big Fat Fabulous Life provided by PopCulture.com, the TLC star visits a fertility clinic after noticing significant changes in her health.

Accompanied by her friend Jessica Powell, Whitney gets ready for her examination. The two share a lighthearted moment, joking about feeling like they’re trying to have a baby together as Dr. Yalcinkaya joins them. “I understand you have some questions and want to get checked again?” he asks Whitney. She explains that she wants to understand what’s happening with her uterus, mentioning that her reproductive health has undergone major changes in the past two years.

Whitney shares that she has started having regular periods unexpectedly, despite not being on any new medications. When Dr. Yalcinkaya inquires if she has experienced weight changes, Whitney notes that she has lost about 50 pounds in the past year, and a total of 100 pounds from her highest weight. However, she clarifies that the regular periods started before the most recent weight loss.

Dr. Yalcinkaya explains, “Patients with PCOS, as their ovaries lose some of the eggs, unfortunately, some of the hormone changes occur in such a way that the vicious cycle that kept them from ovulating and having their periods is broken and they start having ovulatory cycles.” He adds, “Some of it could be the age, but some of it could also be the weight loss.”

As Whitney approaches her 40th birthday, she expresses her interest in understanding her overall fertility. She clarifies to the doctor, “I’m not trying to get pregnant, but I kind of want to know, do I need to worry about getting pregnant like on accident or can I just…” Dr. Yalcinkaya reminds her that there is “always that possibility” of an accidental pregnancy, to which Whitney humorously acknowledges her concerns as “ridiculous.”

During the pelvic exam setup, Whitney’s curiosity about her newfound menstrual cycles leads her to wonder, “Getting my period now and stuff, I’m just curious what all is going on.” The sneak peek concludes with Dr. Yalcinkaya starting to provide an update to Whitney, saying, “At this point…”
