Faculty at college disciplined for backing pro-Palestinian student demonstrators

Annelise Orleck, a long-time history professor at Dartmouth College, found herself at the center of a protest on campus last week. When she intervened to stop the arrest of students, police officers violently subdued her, throwing her to the ground and kneeling on her back. The 65-year-old, who has taught U.S. and Jewish history for over 30 years, feared she might become a key figure in future textbooks due to the incident. Orleck described feeling unable to breathe as officers detained her during the demonstration.
