FAS Dean Hopi Hoekstra Celebrates Successful Resolution of Harvard Yard Encampment

The Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean Hopi E. Hoekstra praised interim University President Alan M. Garber ’76 for peacefully resolving the pro-Palestine encampment in Harvard Yard. Hoekstra emphasized the importance of “true and meaningful dialogue” in her first public statement on the issue. As part of the agreement to end the encampment, a meeting was promised between Harvard Out of Occupied Palestine group and the university leaders to discuss thoughts on the war in Israel and Gaza. The resolution aligned more closely with the responses at other universities, but it remains to be seen if there will be any backlash from faculty or donors.
