Favorite Cosplayers at the 2024 Florida Supercon in Miami Beach

Thousands of fans flocked to the Miami Convention Center on Saturday for the 2024 Florida Supercon. They came from places as close as Miami and as far as Nebraska, drawn by the allure of panels, games, parties, and the chance to cosplay as their favorite characters from movies, television, anime, manga, and video games.

The event was a feast for the eyes, featuring a diverse array of costumes. Star Wars fans saw Boba Fett, while Pokémon enthusiasts spotted Pikachu and Ash Ketchum. There were encounters with aliens from the Aliens franchise, and fans of Doctor Who had their fill of Doctors and Weeping Angels, largely due to the presence of David Tennant, the event’s big celebrity guest. Tennant has a storied history as the Tenth Doctor and brought in a full ballroom’s worth of fans. Cosplayers dressed as Aziraphale and Crowley from his series “Good Omens” also made appearances.

Cosplay took center stage, with fans going all out to bring their favorite characters to life. Dominic Maher, just 6 years old, impressed many by dressing as Boba Fett. Vivian Fernandez, age 30, wowed the crowd as Pomni from “The Amazing Digital Circus.” From Pokémon, we saw Xander Iturbe as Pikachu, Shane Fernandez as Ash Ketchum, and Brad Burkhardt as Blastoise.

Nicholas Sanzone, age 40, showcased a detailed costume of Fjord Stone from Critical Role, and Adrian Delvalle, 24, brought spine-chilling realism to his portrayal of an Alien. X-Men fans saw Madelyne Pryor, the “Goblin Queen,” brought to life by Trish Althouse, age 29. A cosplayer named Bryan Farinas, age 23, chose to dress as B-01 from “Helldivers 2,” while Amanda Edwards-Berlingeri, age 24, embodied Zelda from “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.”

From “The Amazing Digital Circus,” we also saw Brendan Taggart as Caine and Vivian Fernandez as Pomni. Liam Roberts, 22, captivated fans as Ashton Greymoore from Critical Role. Matthew Harden, 34, turned heads as Dark Star Mordekaiser from “League of Legends.”

One Piece enthusiasts were treated to Bunni Iglesia as Perona and David Velarde as Dracule Mihawk. Sofia Insaurralde, age 28, portrayed Ranni the Witch from “Elden Ring.” Brad Pierce, aged 24, and Jude Alejo, aged 18, brought laughter as Wario and Waluigi from the Super Mario series.

In the realm of video games, Amber Fuentes, age 20, portrayed Shadowheart from “Baldur’s Gate 3” while Noelle Brunelle, age 33, transformed into Lae’zel from the same game. Victoria Decun, 31, and Eddy Ruiz, 30, created their own Star Wars characters, Darth Vek’tra and Darth Zaburas.

Jacob C., 36, became Spectre Knight from “Shovel Knight,” and Steve Hamedl, 53, brought back memories of the second “RoboCop” film. Liam Timana, 24, enchanted attendees as Skull Kid from “The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask.” Loki Cilento, 19, chose to dress as Fizzarolli from “Helluva Boss.”

From the Super Mario series, Nael Simonaire, 29, played The Duchy of the Shifting Tides as Wario. Steven Rodriguez, 31, drew attention as a vault dweller from “Fallout,” and Raul Carbonell, 26, chose Macht from “Frieren.”

Alex Mercer, 35, channeled Sheev Palpatine from Star Wars, while Curran Butcher, 30, portrayed a Soldier of Gondor from “Lord of the Rings.” Gaby Delgado, 20, impressed as Crowley from “Good Omens,” and Jazzie Hennings, 44, delighted folks as Jester Lavorre from Critical Role.

Teen fans also got in on the action. Elysia Behan, age 13, turned heads as Alastor from “Hazbin Hotel,” and Lourdes Insaurralde, 25, joined the cosplayers as Pomni from “The Amazing Digital Circus.” Regina Ferreira, 52, gave chills as a Weeping Angel from Doctor Who.
