Flavor Flav Gifts Special Bronze Clock to Gymnast Jordan Chiles

After two-time Olympian Jordan Chiles earned her first individual medal in the floor final, the International Olympic Committee demanded she return her bronze medal so it could be reallocated to Romania’s Ana Barbosu.

Public Enemy founding member Flavor Flav, known for supporting the USA women’s water polo team at the Paris Olympics and his iconic oversized clock necklaces, decided to show his support for the American gymnast in a unique way.

On Monday, the rapper revealed a bronze clock for Chiles, asserting “USA gonna Fight the Powers that be,” referring to Public Enemy’s hit song “Fight the Power.”

Jordan Chiles’ mother, Gina, expressed her gratitude for Flavor Flav on social media.

Chiles initially scored 13.666 in the floor final, placing her fifth, while Barbosu scored 13.7, landing her in the bronze medal position. Team USA coach Cecile Landi questioned Chiles’ difficulty score, resulting in an increased score of 13.766, which moved Chiles to third place on the podium.

After the medal ceremony, the Romanian Gymnastics Federation filed a complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport, arguing that the inquiry should not have been accepted as it was submitted after the one-minute deadline.

Devastated, Chiles announced on her Instagram story that she would be taking a break from social media to focus on her mental health.

The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee provided a letter and video evidence on Sunday to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, demonstrating that the appeal was made within the one-minute timeframe. However, on Monday, USA Gymnastics released a statement indicating that the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s rules do not permit reconsideration of an arbitral award, even when decisive new evidence is provided.
