Florida man arrested for murder of his girlfriend’s 13-year-old daughter

The boyfriend of a Florida mother whose 13-year-old daughter went missing in February has been charged with the girl’s murder. Stephan Sterns is facing first-degree murder charges for killing Madeline Soto. Madeline was reported missing on Feb. 26 and her body was found in a wooded area days later. Prosecutors are considering seeking the death penalty for Sterns. The teenager’s mother, Jennifer Soto, has cooperated with investigators. Sterns was already facing charges related to sexual battery and possession of child abuse material. He is being held without bond and his trial has been delayed.
