Florida’s six-week abortion ban has been implemented, closing the last abortion access point in the US South. Pro-choice advocates fear the ban will limit access for over 21 million women. A ballot measure in November could protect access until around 24 weeks. Florida had been a haven for abortion at 15 weeks, with many out-of-state patients. The new law restricts abortions after six weeks with limited exceptions. Anti-abortion activists support the law, while pro-choice activists hope for Amendment 4 to protect abortion rights. The fight for access to abortion continues in Florida.
