Former Cop’s Ex-Wife Sought Restraining Order Out of Fear Before Tragic Incident: Allegedly Killed Her and Teen Girlfriend

Amber Rodriguez was granted an order of protection against her ex-husband Elias Huizar before her tragic death outside the elementary school where she worked. Rodriguez had filed for divorce from Huizar in December 2020. She was killed outside William Wiley Elementary School in West Richland shortly after her divorce was finalized. Huizar was accused of fatally shooting Rodriguez and was also linked to the death of his teen girlfriend, Angelica Santos. Rodriguez had sought a protective order against Huizar, expressing her fears and safety concerns to guardian ad litem Tara Symons. The family had tried to stay safe from Huizar, but multiple systems failed them.
