Former Maryland school official charged in connection to artificial intelligence hoax

The former athletic director at Pikesville High School, Dazhon Darien, has been arrested for an AI-generated impersonation of Principal Eric Eiswert. The audio clip, containing race-based commentary, led to Eiswert’s temporary removal, hate-filled messages on social media, and numerous calls to the school. Eiswert suspected Darien due to his tech skills and unresolved work-performance issues. Darien was arrested after investigators linked an email account to him. He was apprehended at the airport with a warrant. The school district did not provide a comment. This is a developing story.
