Former police officer alleged to be involved in two murders and baby abduction fatally shoots self during pursuit, according to authorities

A former Washington state police officer, Elias Huizar, shot himself during a police pursuit in Oregon after killing his ex-wife, girlfriend, and kidnapping a baby. Huizar was pursued by troopers and after shooting himself, his current condition is unknown. He was charged with first-degree murder in Amber Rodriguez’s slaying at a school. Huizar was also being investigated in the death of his girlfriend. Witnesses reported Huizar wearing black clothing and a black hat, shooting Rodriguez. Authorities revealed Huizar was under conditional freedom due to previous rape accusations involving minors. Huizar resigned from the Yakima Police Department in February 2022.
