Hollywood is remembering Shannen Doherty after the actress lost her battle with cancer at only 53.

The Beverly Hills, 90210 star passed away on July 13, 2024. Shannen was originally diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2015 and went into remission two years later after undergoing treatments and multiple surgeries.

In February 2020, Shannen emotionally shared on Good Morning America that her cancer had returned, and it was stage 4. Last June, Shannen revealed that the cancer had spread to her brain.

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty,” her publicist, Leslie Sloane, shared. “On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease.”

Shannen’s friends have been mourning the loss on social media with memories of their time with the actress.

Shannen’s former 90210 costar, Jason Priestley, was one of the first to honor the late star. On Instagram, he shared a throwback photo of Shannen as Brenda Walsh and Jason as her twin brother, Brandon Walsh.

“Shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of my friend Shannen,” he captioned. “She was a force of nature, and I will miss her. Sending love and light to her family in this dark time.”

Curb Your Enthusiasm actress Gennefer Gross also shared a 90210 photo that shows Shannen and Luke Perry, who played Dylan McKay, Brenda’s longtime boyfriend.

“I hope Dylan and Brenda are enjoying a post-surf milkshake at the Peach Pit in the sky,” she wrote on X. “RIP Shannen Doherty.”

Comedian and Full House star Dave Coulier also took to X with a sweet post about Shannen’s courageous fight against the same disease that took the lives of so many he loved.

“RIP Shannen Doherty,” he began. “I met her during the Full House days. She was lovely and had a beautiful smile. Today, I’ll also think about the women in my life who all succumbed to cancer – my mom, my sister, Sharon, and my niece, Shannon, who all were so strong and so beautiful.”
