FX sets September date for Ryan Murphy’s Grotesquerie starring Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce fans are in for a treat this fall as the NFL star makes a surprising transition to acting. Kelce will be featured in Ryan Murphy’s 10-episode horror drama series Grotesquerie, which is set to premiere on Wednesday, September 25, according to Deadline.

Leading the cast is Emmy-winning actress Niecy Nash-Betts, known for her role in Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. In Grotesquerie, Nash-Betts plays Detective Lois Tryon. The storyline centers around a series of gruesome crimes unsettling a small community, with Lois suspecting a personal connection to the crimes.

Detective Lois Tryon seeks help from Sister Megan, played by Micaela Diamond. Sister Megan is a nun harboring her own secrets but who still has faith in humanity, contrasting Lois’s bleak outlook on the world. As they piece together clues, they find themselves entangled in a dark web of mysteries that seem to lead to more questions than answers.

Joining Nash-Betts and Diamond is an impressive ensemble cast including Courtney B. Vance, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Lesley Manville, Raven Goodwin, and Travis Kelce. Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, has garnered additional fame over the past year due to his high-profile relationship with superstar Taylor Swift. Grotesquerie marks Kelce’s first major acting role, although specific details about his character remain undisclosed.

The show is produced by American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy, who also directs along with Alexis Martin Woodall, Elegance Bratton, and Max Winkler. Murphy co-created and wrote Grotesquerie with Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken.

In addition to Grotesquerie, Murphy’s Netflix series Monster is set to return this fall or winter with its second season, focusing on Lyle and Erik Menéndez. A thirteenth season of American Horror Story is also in development.

The series premieres on September 25 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, with episodes available the following day on Hulu. International viewers will be able to watch the show on Disney+ at a later date.
