Governor Reynolds declares disaster as tornado devastates small Iowa town

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation for Pottawattamie County after multiple tornados caused significant damage. The storm flattened part of Minden, Iowa. The proclamation allows for the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program, offering up to $5,000 for households with reported incomes up to double the federal poverty line. The grants can be used for repairs, clothing, food, and housing. The Disaster Advocacy Program is also activated to help those affected by the disaster create a recovery plan.
