A SWAT team responded to a shooting outside a home in Kenner, Louisiana, where two people had been shot. The suspect, Matthew Lathers, was fatally shot by a Sheriff’s Office sniper. Lathers had an outstanding warrant for attempted murder and armed robbery. Three officers were shot during the incident. Following failed negotiation attempts, a sniper shot Lathers, resulting in his death. The injured officers and innocent bystanders are in stable condition. The investigation into the shooting will be handled by the Sheriff’s Office. Kenner is located 13 miles west of New Orleans.
